Too Crowded, Too Cozy
42cm (W) x 23cm (H) x 2cm (D) Pyrography on Camphor Laurel, ready to hang
Four tree sparrows nestle closely together, their small bodies pressed side by side in a moment that feels both crowded and comfortingly warm.
What might seem tight or overwhelming at first glance becomes, upon closer look, a quiet expression of belonging — a reminder that closeness, even in limited space, can feel safe, gentle, and full of warmth.
A crowded yet cozy family, leaning into one another.
Created using pyrography, the art of drawing with fire, each line is permanently burned into the wood surface. This slow and irreversible process demands precision, control, and patience. Unlike ink or paint, tonal variations are formed through heat, making every mark deliberate and unrepeatable.
The timber is locally sourced in Australia, allowing the natural grain to become part of the composition, adding organic warmth and uniqueness to the piece.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork.
